Our Institute is unique specialized scientific research establishment in the area of microsurgery in Russia as well as in CIS.

The aim of its establishing is performing clinical and basic scientific studies in the area of reconstructive and plastic microsurgery, tissue engineering aimed at improving quality of life of people with several injuries, with chronic diseases or with congenital anomalies.

The establisher of the Institute is the Honoured physician of Russian Federation, professor Vladimir Fjodorovich Baitinger.

The Institute was established on February, 6, 2002 and officially registered in the Tomsk registration chamber (№28393/15855) as autonomous non-profit organization «Scientific Research Institute of Microsurgery, Tomsk scientific centre, Siberian branch, Russian academy of medical sciences».

The Institute was established under the auspices of the Governor of the Tomsk region Victor M. Kress and the O’Brien Institute of microsurgery (Melbourne) in the person of its Director professor Wayne Morrison.

Our Institute has 2 scientific laboratories (experimental microsurgery, hemodynamics of extremities), clinical department with 25 beds which is working within 24 hours aimed at delivering urgent medical aid to patients with injured distal parts of extremities. In addition, clinical department delivers planned aid to correct extensive defects of soft tissues, bones, joints (1200-1300 surgeries per year). Out-patient department (for about 8000 visits per year) delivers rehabilitative aid to patients with injured hands and provides special program for patients having diabetes mellitus (prevention of diabetic foot development).
